Ecuador: The Next Generation Travel Professionals

Ecuador: The Next Generation Travel Professionals

Very often I hear about new tourism related businesses who open their doors somewhere in the country. The various careers in tourism who can be studied at the local universities are in very high demand by students, who just finished their college.

In Ecuador, tourism is often considered an easy way to earn money. For this reason, new tourism businesses are created carefree and its owners seem to have excellent intentions at the beginning.

Because Ecuadorians are excellent hosts, most people think that to receive a foreign visitor is the same easy thing as to receive a good friend. Unfortunately is this perception not always right.

Sad to say that the very low level of education, combined with a practically non existing quality control from the authorities, let fail a lot of the newly created businesses. This situation often leaves disappointed investors alone with a big whole in their finances.

Too much amateurism is reigning in Ecuador's touristic education. Beginning with the universities who teach tourism careers without any practical knowledge from the sector. There are different tourism careers available, but there are no studies about how many professionals are needed in each career.

The reality today is that a graduated has a title in tourism, but has in fact very little technical and practical knowledge about his profession. As an example, how can it be explained that in Ecuador students have to learn 2 foreign languages at the same time, often instructed by teachers who don't even have a diploma in the language they instruct.

After graduation, the universities leave their students very often without the foreign language skills needed to start successful a career.

Other educational problems occur because most of the teachers have never worked in tourism, and most of them don't even have the necessary contacts who would help them to know what the expectations from the industry and their employers are.

Another deficiency is that there are no controls of the graduation process itself, that means the final "tests" are controlled totally by the universities themselves. The instructors of each discipline "test" their own students.

This process opens doors for corruption and there is absolutely no control in which quality and quantity the tested knowledge was transmitted to the student.

This inadequate education in tourism has not only the effect that lots of graduates don't find a study related job after they have their diploma, it is often a frustration for their family too.

The family often invests a lot of money in the academic work of their child, in the meaning that he or she should have a better life afterwords. If the graduated does't find a job in his career, the family is often very disappointed because years of saved money seems to be invested badly.

The practical part of a career should be learned in a well coordinated and organized training in career related businesses. Business owners should be motivated to employ trainees, and to take the time to introduce them to the practical part of their career.

There should be exact plans for every trainee what to do in a company, depending on the level of their studies. The practical work should be, of course, part of the final qualification.

A nice side effect for the participating company would be to have an interesting possibility to pre-select future employees.

For the Ecuadorian tourism industry should it be a priority to ensure an excellent education for future professionals.

Only this way the tourism in Ecuador can have a healthy growth in future.

More and more good trained young people have to be involved in our interesting industry. They help to ensure an excellent reputation of Ecuador in the world and ensure an excellent standard of living for themselves and all of us.

Adventure Travel Vocations - Small Group Tour

Adventure Travel Vocations - Small Group Tour

Are you planning your next vocation and thinking of taking an adventure travel tour instead of traditional beach - resort type of vocation? You are not alone, many people these days prefer active, adventurous style of travel. And the best way to have a safe adventure is to go for adventure travel in a small group.

Small group adventures travel is a fast growing industry and for a good reason. There are many definite advantages to having a guided adventure vocation in a small group:

- you can get more attention from the tour guide

- there is a great variety of small group adventures available even to rare and not tourist popular destinations

- if the group is not large the tour can be better customized to your needs

- often traveling in a small group is cheaper than participating in a conventional tour, because only a few people need accommodation, so it doesn't have to be a big hotel

- tours are less formal and you have more freedom, yet a safety of having a guide, in case you need help

These tips will help you to get the most from your vocation

1. Decide what kind of adventure you are looking for. Adventure vocation is a broad term - for some it means exploring the wildness of Alaska or the jungles of Amazon, while others want a guided tour to Paris or Sydney. Not all adventures require you to be in a top physical shape. Some tours involve a lot of hiking, but not all - you can still see a lot of interesting and exciting things without accosting yourself. Find out in advance how difficult your tour is going to be.

2. Do you want to explore just one country in depth or would you rather see a lot of different things in different countries? This question might sound silly, but it actually is important. Since most adventure vocation tours are 7-14 days long, you can't expect to see a lot of places and to spend a long time in each of them. More places and countries doesn't necessarily mean better vocation, you might just become exhausted and overwhelmed by too many things to see.

3. Are you after a family adventure or you preferring only a company of adult travelers? As adventurous traveling gains its popularity, many companies offer family friendly adventure tours. These are usually light tours with many activities to interest children. So, if you plan to go with kids, search for family adventures. On the other hand, if you don't want children as members of your group, make sure to ask your travel agent, if families with kids go for this type of tour.

4. Spend several hours researching adventure travel companies and comparing adventure tours they offer - that will save you a lot of money and frustration. If you do your research online, and you should, read what other people who took the tour you like have to say. Most traveling companies put testimonials online. You can also search adventure forums, where people share their real experiences.

5. Adventure travel doesn't have to be very expensive, especially if we are talking about traveling in small groups. Search around and find a tour that suits your budget. In traveling industry expensive doesn't necessarily mean the best. Compare what activities the tours offer and what kind of accommodation is included. It is possible to find great adventure tours at reasonable prices.

Importance of Highways

Importance of Highways

Highways are the most important part of the automobile industry. If there were no roads or highways there would be no need for automobiles. Highways allow drivers to get from destination to destination within cities and states. Highways can be large or small in the number of lanes available in each direction. There are different highway designs across not only the United States but also across the world. Highways can consist of tunnels, bridges and even ferries.

Some of the famous bridges in the United States are the Verrazano Bridge, the Gold Gate Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Seven Mile Bridge to the Florida Keys. Some of the famous tunnels in the United States are the Broadway Tunnel, the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel, the Fort McHenry Tunnel and the Holland Tunnel. Bridges and tunnels are used to continue roadways and highways across large bodies of water without having to ferry vehicles across the water. This would take more time than driving across the bridge or through the tunnel because the cars would have to be loaded onto the ferry and then the ferry would have to traverse the water. A popular ferry located in both New Jersey and Delaware is the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. The ferry is used by tourists and the workforce alike, taking them from Cape May, New Jersey to Lewes, Delaware or vice versa.

The United States employs the National Highway System for their roadways. It is 160,000 miles of roadway that are important to the country's safety, mobility and economy. As technology has improved so has the placement of highways. They are now located in the rough terrain of the mountains and the swamp lands of the deep South. The National Highway System came into being in 1995 when it was approved by the United States Congress. A part of the National Highway System is the Federal Highway Administration. The FHA is responsible for monitoring funds that are used for road construction and maintaining the quality of the roadways. The FHA is also responsible for providing road designs and construction for the National Park Service and the Forest Service.

The National Highway System serves a number of transportation venues throughout the United States. They are 198 ports, 207 airports, 67 Amtrak stations, 190 rail/truck terminals, 82 bus terminals, 307 public transit stations, 37 ferries, 20 multipurpose passenger terminals and 58 pipeline terminals.

People across the country can elect to adopt-a-highway, also known as the sponsor-a-highway program. This is where people can keep a stretch of highway beautiful by keeping it free of litter in exchange for a sign with that person or group's name on it along the roadway. If you sponsor a highway the corporation that does so usually hires a company to pick up the litter from the roadway. This method is the most popular because of how dangerous high speed highways can be. The hired company is a professional trash company with road cleaning experience. Such groups that sponsor highways are the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, major corporations and even the Knights of Columbus.

Getting in shape does not mean all work and no play. On board these fitness cruises are nutritionists and dietitians who prepare great daily menus that give you the recommended daily nutritional intake. Five Good Reasons Why Bratislava is the New Hot Destination For Stag Nights

Located on the banks of the beautiful River Danube, Bratislava is a vibrant and bustling city of culture, with incredible architecture and a rich and diverse mix of cafés, restaurants and bars.

Described by the official website of the City of Bratislava as having a "relaxed Mediterranean type atmosphere", the city combines a mesmerising charm with a lively, fun edge.

With such a range of activities, history and nightlife, Bratislava is becoming an increasingly popular destination for people who want to have an unforgettable stag weekend in Eastern Europe. Here are some of those reasons for choosing the city of Bratislava for your ultimate last weekend of freedom.

The biggest city in the Slovak republic, Bratislava is rich in history and architecture. If you are in the mood for soaking up the local tourist spots you can visit places like Bratislava Castle, a national cultural monument that stands in a magnificent location overlooking the city. With views of neighbouring Austria and Hungary, it is the most stunning way of viewing the city below. With its medieval towers and ancient buildings the city is a sight to behold as it straddles the second biggest river in Europe. Guided tours are ideal if your group wants to take some time out and get lost in the cobbled streets.

Whatever your needs, the city prides itself on having accommodation for any budget. The Slovaks love their beer. Generally, light coloured beer (svelte) is the firm favourite, but you can still find great quality dark (tmavé) beer. From Irish to traditional locals, a range of pubs awaits you. You can vary your experience by crawling around the different pubs or you can feel right at home in a modern bar, surrounded with gorgeous women, looking sexy on the dance floor.

To make your weekend ultimately unforgettable, why not try some casual mud wrestling? Four beautiful, naked girls and lots of slippery, wet mud - is there anything that beats that?

There are many opportunities in Bratislava to bond as a group. Whether it's shooting at targets at a pistol range or each other at a paintball course. You could also try reaching speeds of 40mph on some great go-cart courses or get wet and muddy, doing some cross-country quad biking around the landscape of Bratislava. Everything You Need to Know About Perth

Everything You Need to Know About Perth

Merely saying that Perth is the most naturally beautiful city in Australia would be a gross understatement. You have to be there to savor the unparalleled and breathe taking natural beauty which will blow your mind away. Even Captain James Sterling who founded this city, had occasion to make this statement and it was perhaps this scenic splendor which arrested his gaze.

Compared to other ancient cities of the world boasting of a rich historic past, Perth seems to be an infant - aged only 175/180 years. But with its baby steps it has taken a giant leap forward into the future and happens to be one of the most ultra modern and happening cities of the world.

The city has a warm and hospitable nature which has helped it to become one of Australia's hottest tourist spots in a short period. Perth is romantically perched on the lap of the ancient Darling mountain range on the one hand; on the other hand it offers a captivating view of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean from its front.

This meeting point of mountain, rolling down into the sea is what contributes to the romantic charm and scenic visual splendor of Perth. Nestled in the crooks of nature, it is protected from fierce inclement weather by the Darling mountain range, but offers at the same times, huge opportunities for fun and enjoyment through its golden sun kissed mind blowing beaches.

Some of the must visits in Perth include ROTTNEST ISLAND, SWAN VALLEY, LONDON COURT, THE BURSWOOD PARK, THE OLD MILL, THE PERTH MINT, BARRACKS ARCH, PERTH BELL TOWER, KINGS PARK, BOTANIC GARDENS, and CRUISE TRIPS down the azure sea or a tram ride down the city. But I would also ask you to deviate a little from the clichéd done to death sightseeing itinerary and take a peek into the life of the aborigines.

If you don't participate in the music, dance and culture of the aborigines, you will miss the most distinguished quality/aspect of Perth - the aspect that sets it apart from other run of the mill modern cities. These aborigines are the original and ancient inhabitants of Australia before the British colonized the nation and turned it into a commonwealth.

Britain used to dispatch half of its convicts and poor people seeking a fortune to Australia. If you are game for water sports, scuba diving, surfing, snorkeling, underwater trips to the bed of the ocean, then Perth is the right place for you.

Your journey wouldn't be complete without a shopping break in Murray Street and Hay Street malls, the Forest Chase shopping complex; King Street is ideal for designer wear shopping. The streets of Subaico are a good place to source art and craft items whereas the best places to get hold of aboriginal handicraft items are DESERT DESIGNS, INDEGENART and THE CREATIVE NATIVE.

Some of the top fine dining addresses that are definitely worth a visit are 44 KING STREET for that distinctive Australian flavor, MOUNT STREET CAF..., INDIANA TEA HOUSE, FRASER'S, MAYA MASALA, BENGAL INDIAN CURRY HOUSE and LA PIZZERIA .

French Winter Holidays at the Les Houches Ski Resort

French Winter Holidays at the Les Houches Ski Resort

Most ski resorts have an international character. The architecture and facilities are often standard, and the restaurants prepare international cuisines. Thus, this question is reasonable: where can skiers get a true French style holiday while skiing in the French Alps? If the skiers will come into the Chamonix Valley from the west, they will find the answer - the new ski resort of Les Houches.

The Les Houches is a traditional French village in which the geographical domain is located between 950 and 1900 meters above sea level. At the highest elevation, the skiers and tourists will enjoy an encompassing 360-degree view of Mont-Blanc. The ski area has a total of 55 kilometers with 22 well-maintained icy slopes with 10 kilometers dedicated to cross-country skiing. Most ski runs meander through the forest, making skiing even more pleasurable, while the cross-country trails are located near the Chavants Lake.

The majority of the pistes at the new ski resort of Les Houches are suited for beginners and intermediate skiers. However, there is one slope for experts, the La Verte des Houches, which is used for international ski championships. Nevertheless, expert skiers may find greater satisfaction in exploring the nearby regions. Fortunately, when in Les Houches, the skiers will have easy access to the whole ski region of the Mont-Blanc, which comprises a total of 700 kilometers of ski runs spread over 343 pistes. There will most certainly be enough access to black runs for the expert skiers.

More than a hundred snow cannons augment the snow and the skiers will find excellent snow conditions. The skiers are serviced by a modern lift system that has nine draglifts, six chairlifts, one bubble lift, and one cable car. Aside from skiing, the new ski resort of Les Houches also provide facilities for other winter holiday activities such as ski jumping, paragliding, ice skating, ice hockey, dog sledging, and even helicopter tours. All of these fantastic amenities make Les Houches competitive with other ski resorts. But what makes the Les Houches ski resort uniquely French?

The new ski resort of Les Houches has an exceptional and genuine Savoyard vista, which is reflective of the peace-loving and independent French spirit. During the day, the atmosphere is sparkling and animated and during the night, the mood is relaxed and laid back. Thus, during the day, the skiers can concentrate on conquering the slopes while enjoying the spectacular scenery of Mont-Blanc and the charming French architecture of Les Houches and during the evenings, the skiers can relax and spend longer hours in restaurants to enjoy French specialties such as farcement, raclette, fondue, and tartiflette. Of course, there are also shops, discos, cinemas, and nightclubs.

To experience French holidays at the new ski resort of Les Houches, the skiers may choose any of the several methods to reach this authentic French village. They can drive for approximately eight hours, starting from Calais. Or they can fly in through any of the six nearby airports, such as the Geneva Airport.

Val D'isere, Beyond Championship Skiing

Val D'isere, Beyond Championship Skiing

The FIS or the International Ski Federation, which began the tradition of organizing world ski competitions in 1931, is one of the most awaited ski experiences for all serious skiers. These global ski events are synonymous to the famous icy slopes of Val d'Isere. The ski resort of Val d'Isere, however, is not just for championship skiing. This new ski resort is also for all other types of holiday fun.

Holiday History

If it is the skier's first time to visit the new ski resort of Val d'Isere, they will immediately observe that the town has a duality. One part of it clings to its vivid past and the other part embraces the future. The past is found in the central and eastern areas of the town where the architecture is predominated by chalets. The charming chalets are actually just the more recent evidences of the past. The Val d'Isere was established during the Roman Empire and the church that was built in 1664 is still a major landmark today. Then skiing came.

Skiing, when it was introduced in Val d'Isere, was not considered a winter sport. Skiing was the favored transportation of churchgoers every Sunday. The children also ski when going to and coming from the school. It wasn't until in 1934 when Val d'Isere officially became a ski resort. A ski school was established in 1936 and a cable car was finally built in 1942 to replace an older draglift. The name of the new ski resort of Val d'Isere became famous and the town attracted the attention of many skiing enthusiasts. The western area of the Val d'Isere is now lined with modern high-rise buildings.

Family Fun

The new ski resort of Val d'Isere is not just famous for the championship medals won after conquering its slopes; rather it is also a great place to have family fun. The town is right on the border of the Vanoise National Park and the new ski resort has its own Snow Park, the Val Park. At the Val Park, the whole family can enjoy easy runs as well as the visual proof of why the Val d'Isere is considered as one of the most beautiful ski resorts. The Snow Park has a recreational area for music and barbecue, and there are draglifts and chairlifts for anyone who is interested in putting those skis to good use.

Important Skiing Information

When planning to visit and ski at the Val d'Isere new ski resort, it would be best to first check out the new traffic and parking plan. The skier zones were expanded and more snow cannons are used to augment the snow. There also several off-pistes and ski runs located at more than 2,500 meters above sea level. The 50 ski lifts are capable of uplifting more than 64,000 skiers and snowboarders in an hour. Downhill runs have a total of 150 kilometers and composed of 22 green runs, 28 blue runs, 18 red runs, and 7 black runs.

All Suite Beachfront Hotel on Ambergris Caye Belize

All Suite Beachfront Hotel on Ambergris Caye Belize

It can be difficult to find a quality beachfront hotel on Ambergris Caye Belize, at a price you can afford so check out the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments

Looking for a beachfront hotel, preferably all suite, or an apartment, and it has to be on Ambergris Caye Belize, and it has to cost under USD180, then perhaps the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments is the place for you.

Actually described as Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments with Woody's Wharf it is well known as one of Ambergris Caye's most spacious and comfortable hotels. It has twelve rooms, and four apartments, which really are deluxe suites with masses of space.

The situation is beachfront at Woody's Wharf which is about half a mile from San Pedro, which isn't really a town more a quaint fishing village with bits added on, and less than a mile away is the second largest coral reef in the world. Being half a mile from San pedro gives you the advantage of some peace and quiet, but near enough to visit restaurants, do some shopping, and part if you want to.

Guests comments are always very helpful when it comes to selecting a vacation destination, and the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments is often described as a really good hotel, and a great price, even called a bargain.

Whilst there is no pool at the hotel, there is a swimming area at the wharf, where they have their own dock, so it may not be the best place if you have small children, but perfect to be able to swim in the Caribbean Sea for adults and older teenagers. Swimming off the wharf also means avoiding the sea grass which seems to be everywhere.

Comments always include the idyllic beachfront location, and how helpful accommodating, and friendly the staff are, which goes a long way to helping you understand why the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments is one of the best Ambergris Caye Hotels.

There are always remarks made about the size of the rooms, the views from the top level rooms are just fantastic, and how clean everything is kept in the accommodations. Also there are frequent remarks about how well furnished and appointed the rooms are.

Best thing of all is the fact that everyone comments on how reasonably priced it is for a beachfront hotel in such a wonderful location.

It is fair to say however, that if your ideal vacation includes, or has to have a large resort, all singing and dancing facilities, and night life in your hotel, then the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments wouldn't be for you. In fact Belize probably wouldn't be ideal at all!!

You will find the breakfasts are stunning at the edge of the dock, with beautiful views, fresh made coffee, eggs, fresh fruit, and fresh juice. There is a honour bar in the lobby, where you write down what you had, and it is then put on your room bill, and for evening eating there are two restaurants over the road, one of which will deliver pizzas, or you can get a $5 taxi into town for more choice.

There is no doubt at all if you need a beachfront hotel, and it has to be on Ambergris Caye, and your budget is slightly restricted at the moment, then you couldn't make a better choice than the Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments.

Singapore Food and Local Delights

Singapore Food and Local Delights

No journey in Singapore is complete without tasting some of the best local delights and foods that this country has to offer. Instead of just writing a normal article about Singapore food and local delights and rattle of some of the local restaurants and their local foods, I shall give you our signature local foods and some of the favourites - some of the best our local culinary skills has to offer. The list starts and ends with the familiar for anyone that is local and will bring great memories of good tasting food.

Hainanese Chicken Rice Chicken rice is one of the popular dishes in Singapore. The rich flavour of the rice comes from the grains that have been pre-fried in chicken fat and then cooked in chicken broth. The chicken is steamed until it is just cooked with a little pink remaining on the flesh near the bones. It is usually accompanied with a chilli sauce made up of chillies, chicken broth, garlic and ginger. Diners can enjoy an accompanying soup or consommé with stock of chicken and some herbs added lightly to its mixture.

Satay Satay is small bite-sized pieces of chicken, mutton and beef steeped in a sweet piquant preserve. These chunky pieces of mouth watering meat are skewered on giant toothpicks and fanned over a large flame. Side dishes include cut cucumbers, rice dumplings, onions and a peanut sauce.

Roti Prata This dish is like a fried croissant or pancake, originating from South India. The pancake is fried on a hot, oily griddle until it's cooked, and marked with brown spots, then served with curry gravy. Prata is a popular choice for breakfast and supper.

Chilli Crab Singapore's unofficial "national dish" and a favourite at seafood restaurants! It has a sauce that is drawn from the strengths of great chillies, the freshest eggs, tomatoes and other hers and ingredients. It can be eaten on its own, scooping great dollops of chilli or soaked in bread for a spicy serving.

Laksa Laksa is an exciting concoction of noodles made from flour in a curry like gravy made of spices, herbs, dried shrimp, coconut milk and chilli. It is served with slices of fishcakes, prawns and cockles. What began as a spicy peanut based gravy evolved into today's version, combination of Chinese, Malay and mostly Peranakan influences.

Nasi Lemak is a breakfast concoction of the Peranakan and some say are the threshold of the Malays in Singapore. Coconut rice served with anchovies, fresh fried frish, special sambal and egg plus cucumber combo, it is a signature kampong dish that you cannot miss.

So there is a list of some of the best and greatest food that we can offer. Although this is just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many more you can eat and choose from. Just walk along the local streets and pop into anyone of the coffee shops you find - you will be sure to find a local savoury hit!

How To Find Cheap Airline Tickets To Atlanta

How To Find Cheap Airline Tickets To Atlanta

Atlanta, the capital of the peach state. There are currently over 3 million people in this city, and there are just as many attractions to see. But how can we get cheap flights to Atlanta in order to be able to visit this beautiful city? Saving money while flying there is really not very difficult if we keep a few things in mind.

First of all we want to try and travel there during the time of year when now one else is making that same trip. The most pleasant time of year to visit Atlanta is during the spring or fall. During this time of year is when you'll find most people wanting to travel there. That doesn't mean that you can't also enjoy this same time frame. If you don't have any children, just go either before the schools close for summer or after the schools open in the fall.

Try to avoid direct flights. You will find that you can get cheap flights to Atlanta much easier if you take a round about way to get there. Which airport you fly out of will also affect the price. You may find that you can save some money just by by driving to another airport to flying out of there than leaving from your local airport.

Always check the internet for cheap flights to Atlanta. There are sites that can get you prices that you can never get on your own directly from airlines. A couple of these sites are Orbitz and Travelocity. Keep in mind that just because they are a large company with a large advertising budget it doesn't mean that they can get you the best prices. Therefor you will need to compare prices between these different sites.

A lot of airlines will also offer student discounts. Check with the airlines and see if they offer any special Pricing for students. Most cities with colleges will have agencies that specialize in travel just for students. Are you a senior citizen? Sometimes airlines will also offer discounts to seniors as well. Make sure to ask about that as well.

Group discounts may also be available to people traveling in large numbers. If you are traveling in a group ask about a discount. Airlines don't typically advertise this so you will want to ask about this as a way to get some cheap flights to Atlanta.

One way to get cheap flights to Atlanta that most people don't think of is to fly on a chartered flight. Chartered flights are usually set up just like group discounted flights. However, they are not only set up with the airlines but also with hotels. Because of this, chartered flights will offer full package deals with hotels, meals and sometimes rental cars. However, if you are only interested in the flight, you can usually get a discount on just the flight. Just ask about charted flights when speaking with your local travel agent.

So as you can see, getting cheap flights to Atlanta is not difficult. Soon you will be walking the streets of Atlanta checking out all of the attractions.

Interesting Recent History of Avon County, UK

The old County of Avon used to be a non-metropolitan county and formal county in the western side of Britain, named after River Avon, that flowed through it. This county was abolished in 1996, and the area split between the North East Somerset and Bath, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset united local authorities. Avon area is still functioning for some designs and these days have a population of more than one million people.

Under the Local Government Act 1972, Avon was formed, on April 1, 1974. It took areas of the former county boroughs of Bath and Bristol and areas from other administrative counties of Gloucestershire (Kingswood, Mangotsfield, and the rural districts of Warmley(most), Thornbury and Sodbury (most)), and Somerset (Clevedon, Keynsham, Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Norton-Radstock and the rural areas of Bathavon, Axbridge (much), Long Ashton and Clutton.

Most of the new counties created by this Act, its boundaries were seriously reduced from its beginnings, with Frome and Bradford on Avon were removed from the designated area.

It had six districts Bath and. Bristol was accepted from the former county boroughs. In northern side, the Gloucestershire side, the urban districts of Mangotsfield and Kingswood formed a single borough of Kingswood and the rest becoming Northavon. In the southern side, there were two districts, Woodspring, on the coast and Wansdyke, in the interior.

Northern side shared borders with Gloucestershire, to the southern side it was Somerset and to the eastern side Wiltshire. On the west it shared a shore with Severn Estuary and the Bristol Channel.

Avon's area was 1,347 square kms (520 sq miles) and its population in 1991 was 919,800. Towns and cities in Avon included Bath, Bristol, Bradley Stoke, Clevedon, Midsomer Norton, Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, and Radstock Thornbury, Nailsea, Keynsham, Yatton and Yate,.

Like other English cities such as Liverpool, Newcastle, Plymouth and Bristol developed as a harbor city at the start of a river that separated these historic counties. It increased and flourished economic linkages on either side of the primitive boundary. In such a situation most of the times have been claimed, close communities have most of the times kept sentimental affections to their primitive counties, instead of those cities that lie on the edge of the primitive counties that they were attached due to cultural facilities, shopping and work.

The county did had a fairly solid rational basis, being largely connected with the Bristol which is described as "Travel to Work Area" defined for the last 4 decades since the 1950s and '60s for planning purposes. In addition for the first time, people in the new county and beyond the Bristol City limits, were brought within easy traveling distance of their offices of main county council.

The "first tranche" of reviews conducted by the Banham Commission, Avon became one of the counties in the 1990s. Both it and its districts be scrapped and replaced with four unitary authorities, was what the Commission recommended. The Avon's structural change on Order 1995 was debated on 22 February 1995 in the House of Commons.

Quick Tour of the Modern Resort of Valmeinier, France

Quick Tour of the Modern Resort of Valmeinier, France

Believed to have been inhabited as early as the 1100s, Valmierier existed in relative obscurity for hundreds of years, until the presence of the mineral coal anthracite was uncovered in the vicinity in the late 1600s. After the discovery of the high quality resource, the entire surrounding valley saw the mining industry join agriculture as the most imortant economic activities in the area. In the last century when the mining industry was losing steam, the inhabitants of Valmeinier, who numbered just some 80 people in the 1960s, had to shift to other ways to bring revenue to their town. As ski resorts were springing up all over the French Alps at the time, Valmeinier joined in and underwent a change from mining town to international ski resort. Opened officially in the year 1986 with a large, newly-built network of ski lifts, Valmeinier has since been continually expanding and raising its already high standard. In addition to its famous snow park, the resort today boasts an impressive 150 kilometers of slopes. Skiing, however, is but one of the many winter activities that make up a wide assortment of fun things to do in Valmeinier. Ice-skating, paragliding, dog sledding and microlight flying are all on offer, as well as the always popular nighttime skiing. Intermediate skiers will not be bored in Valmeinier as there are plenty of slopes to fit their level of experience: 34 green runs, 25 black runs, 31 red runs, and 6 black runs. Experts will find a thrill with the tree-lined slopes, moguls, and steep runs, and beginners will be able to practice at the ski center before hitting the slopes proper. If you are not the winter sports type, there is still plenty to keep you busy in Valmeinier. The new resort is divided into two parts: the traditional mountain village at 1,500 meters and the modern center located at 1,800 meters. The village is home to a cinema, a pub and three bar-restaurants. Local produce is also presented by the locals in food displays and there is a café-theater and cabaret where information about the local history and culture is on hand for tourists. Modern Valmeinier, meanwhile, has three pubs, two cinemas, one disco, one pizzeria and eleven bar-restaurants. While the older village of Valmeinier at 1,500 meters suits the all-around holidaymaker, the more modern part of Valmeinier at 1,800 meters is where the hard-core skiers head. The most popular places to stay in Valmeinier are the Residence Le Thabor, the Residence Les Lodges des Pierres, and the Residence l'Ecrin des Neiges. From the town visitors will enjoy breathtakingmountain views and scenery. There is certainly no lack of snow in Valmeinier, since it is situated near the northern Alps, and children will be able to enjoy the plentiful snow in the sledding and hiking areas, which are only two of the many activities and amenities for children. All of this is why families planning to take a vacation in the French Alps should look no further than the modern ski resort of Valmeinier.

Timeshare: Timeshare Tips for Buyers

Timeshare: Timeshare Tips for Buyers

Every individual waits for that time of the year, a much deserved time off from the hectic activities of day to day life. And when the time comes you keep wondering where to go? Where to stay? Etc. And each time you think I should have planned it out before itself. Smart people plan their vacations long before they actually go out for one. And even smarter people buy timeshare property for vacations to have a peace of mind and a place where they love to enjoy and cherish most beautiful memories in the comfort of your home like atmosphere. Everyone wishes to have a timeshare property at their favorite vacation place. While it may be easy to buy for some, but for some it may be their lifetime savings or hard earned money. So, nobody would like to invest their money in a losing proposition. Here we discuss some of the important things that you have to remember while buying a timeshare.

The first thing to do before buying any timeshare is to understand the types of timeshare. There are basically two types of timeshare plans. A deeded plan, in which you actually buy a piece of real estate property and own it along with other owners but, you can use it only according to the timeshare agreement. A fixed unit, fixed week, deeded timeshare allows you to own a specific timeshare at a specific time each year. A floating time agreement allows you to be flexible about the dates that you can use your timeshare. But reservations may be only first come first serve as many owners would like to go for that option. Right to use timeshare or a non-deeded timeshare is a leased timeshare. Again it is classified into fixed unit and floating time just as in the case of deeded timeshare. You no longer have rights to the property after the lease expires.

Before investing in a timeshare do your homework about the location first. Do a good research about the location, whether you can go there on a yearly basis. Also it wouldn’t hurt if you research the prices of other alternative accommodations in that place. If you are paying for the timeshare then why buy timeshare if an alternative costs you less. But at the same time you should weigh in your comfort factor also. The alternative accommodation might not provide you with the same comfort as the timeshare accommodation. So, it all depends on what criterion is important to you, cost or comfort.

Always find out your timeshare rights before buying. Your rights may be violated in some cases. In most of the cases the timeshare properties are governed by legal documents known as Covenants, Codes, and Restrictions. It establishes rights for real estate property owners and governs how the timeshare should be managed.

Also important thing to consider before buying a timeshare is to decide whether you want to buy it for vacation purpose only or as an investment. If you want to buy it as an investment you should rethink. Timeshares are not one of the most lucrative properties for reselling. Generally timeshare properties don’t have good resale value and the resale is also difficult due to competition from the original seller himself.

While you may think that the cost of buying a timeshare is simply the cost of buying only the real property. You may be wrong. Because you should always calculate the total cost of time share which includes mortgage payments, maintenance fees, taxes, travel cost, closing cost, broker commissions, financing charges etc. That will definitely raise your hair. Compare the cost of alternative accommodation with the total cost of owning a timeshare now. Go with whichever is cheaper.

Also do not forget to read each and every document carefully before signing any agreement. Never ever believe on promises made by word of mouth. Request everything in written. Also find out about the reputation of the seller and whether he is a licensed timeshare seller. Also never accept properties with unfinished facilities, if you do so take a written commitment from the seller that they would be finished within a specific time frame.
