Collecting Flyer Miles For Your Next Holiday

Collecting Flyer Miles For Your Next Holiday

No one ever gets anything for free, and frequent flyer miles sound especially too good to be true. Every dollar you spend on your credit card counts toward free airline tickets? The truth is that the airlines will do anything to avoid putting the cash back in your pocket, but with a few simple tricks you can master the art of the frequent flyer points and fly for free to your next destination.

First, it pays to read the fine print. Before you sign up for a frequent flyer credit card, be sure you know all the regulations on the card. You can also sign up for a mailing list that will alert you to special promotions and deals. Choose your card wisely. Many will give you more bang for your buck. Research the card's partner companies. Sometimes you can earn double points by buying books at specific book stores or buying your groceries in certain places. If you master the system, you can multiply your points. When you fly, be sure to charge your plane ticket to your credit card. Don't be afraid to use your friends. They can buy your free tickets from you in cash while you pay for theirs on your credit card. While you are collecting flyer miles, keep track of all your flights and statements. Mistakes can be made, and when they are, you need to call the credit card company or airline to straighten them out.

Airlines will often tempt you to spend your frequent flyer miles on something other than free flights. They lose money every time a frequent flyer gets on board their airplanes, so of course they will try to get you to spend your miles on something other than your flight, which is basically cash redemption. Airlines will often tempt you to drop your flights in exchange for magazine subscriptions or other promotions. Be wary of these deals. If you cash in your miles for cheap flights or club memberships, you risk losing money on the transaction. Many of these frequent flyer credit cards have annual fees attached. You don't want to trade in your miles for less than the annual fee, at the very least.

You don't actually have to fly to earn frequent flyer points. With a special credit card you can earn points paying for almost anything. Put your child's college tuition on the credit card. Put a big, social dinner on your credit card and ask your dining partners to give you cash for their meals. As long as you pay your credit card bill on time and avoid incurring the high interest fees, this is your best way to earn extra miles.

When you have finally raised enough frequent flyer miles to take your dream vacation, you will get the best value for your miles by acquiring your tickets early, ideally a year in advance. This will ensure that you get the best seats and upgrades for your air miles. Try to choose a flight that won't be crowded with weekend travelers. Travel midweek or take an afternoon flight to avoid the early morning rush. The airline will appreciate your courtesy and you will be rewarded with better deals.

Aluminum Trailers are a Great Purchase for your Needs

Aluminum Trailers are a Great Purchase for your Needs

Before you buy a trailer, it is important to choose what material you’d like the trailer to be made of. Two common options are steel trailers or aluminum trailers. If you like the idea of a lightweight, attractive, and rust free trailer, then aluminum trailers are the way to go!

Admittedly, there are quality trailers made with either material. Some people choose steel because they are less expensive. However, a lower price tag does not mean you will be getting the most for your money. Never settle for a steel trailer simply because of a lower price tag. Buying a trailer is a commitment, so you need to base your decision on more than price alone.

Steel trailers are usually a less expensive option, but they are certainly not better. Many people have found that steel trailers rust quite easily. After dealing with their frustrating steel trailer, they end up having to buy aluminum trailers later on anyway! They’ve now spent much more money than they would have it they had just bought aluminum trailers to begin with.

Other people do not make this mistake and know the benefits of aluminum. Be careful though! Some manufacturers cut costs on their aluminum trailers and make them cheaply. Then people end up buying cheap aluminum trailers that give the industry a bad name. All trailers are not all created equal! In this case, you will most likely get what you paid for.

Another benefit of high quality aluminum trailers is that they are lightweight. This can be important if your vehicle cannot support the very high weight of steel.

Even though aluminum trailers are much lighter, some people still buy steel trailers. This can be a big mistake as some steel trailers end up rusting and eating away at your investment.

We all want our trailer to look the best, and only aluminum trailers offer the sleek, rust free look you want. If you want to impress people with your purchase, aluminum trailers are the way to go. Nothing is more embarrassing than putting your cargo in what looks like a rusty piece of junk. You never have to worry about that with high quality aluminum trailers.

Save up your money to get the highest quality aluminum trailers. These offer maximum strength and give you more of what you need. This is very important when you want to protect your precious cargo.

High quality aluminum trailers also have a track record of longevity. There is no danger of {buying|purchasing}}} aluminum trailers only to have them fail a short time later. You can depend on aluminum trailers to get the job done and get it done right.

It is important to note that you should never settle for cheap aluminum. Some manufactures will try to fool you into buying an inexpensive product. These aluminum trailers simply do not stand the test of time.

Aluminum trailers are the best choice for your trailer needs. They are {durable|strong}}} to protect your cargo and your investment. They look great and will give a positive lasting impression to others. Aluminum trailers will serve your needs for years and years to come.

Majorca: Holidays For Everyone

Majorca: Holidays For Everyone

There's a reason why tourism in Majorca has exploded in recent years. And exploded it definitely has - the number of tourists visiting the island has leapt from 500,000 in 1960 to nearly 7,000,000 in 1997 to over 20,000,000 in 2001.

So why are holidays in Majorca so popular with English tourists?

The Majorca Weather - Sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine

Well, the first reason is obvious - the glorious weather. Majorca is famous for its warm weather, and as Britain recovers from recent flooding, it looks particularly enviable. In summer temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius at points, making it perfect for sunbathing without ever feeling too uncomfortable. Even in winter (which is still a good time to visit the island, but you may find much of the tourist fare closed out of season) Majorca's weather is mild and pleasant with frequent sunny days. These warm temperatures are also matched by the waters, which are clear and perfect for diving (for those not content to just recline on the beach all day).

Majorca: A Britain away from Britain

Another reason for Majorca's popularity with Brits abroad is because it is so British in places. Resorts such as Magaluf and Palma Nova are so well catered for British holiday makers that the majority of voices you hear will be English and the home comforts are easily obtainable from the local shops and cafes - be it a full English breakfast or some Cadburys chocolate. To this end, Majorca resorts often feel like a hotter beach based version of Britain which is what people often want from a break in the sun.

Rude not to visit Majorca at that price

Holidays in Majorca are really cheap these days. The competition between the island's hotels and the growth of internet travel companies means that everyone's trying their hardest to undercut each other. Without putting the hard sell on too much, I feel that my company (Search Travel Online) have got some particularly decent Majorca holiday deals at the moment - but I shall try and return to neutrality now...

Once you are actually there, the prices are good as well - compared to restaurants in the UK, you are in for a pleasant surprise when you explore Majorca's restaurants and shops for the first time.

Majorca: Something for Everyone

The other odd thing about Majorca's popularity is the stereotypical holiday maker it attracts - there isn't one! We regularly sell to groups of teenagers, families with young children, young couples and even elderly holiday makers. Majorca is so varied, there are attractions for everyone. From the wild club scene of Magaluf and Palma Nova, to the historical heritage of Puerto Pollensia, to the culture and shopping of Palma, to the glorious beaches of Alcudia to the various children's attractions and fantastic restaurants dotted throughout the island, you're sure to find something to make your Majorca holiday memorable.

And the best thing about Majorca? It's small enough to see as much or as little of this huge variety as you like with a rental car.

The Majesty of Sistine Chapel!

The Majesty of Sistine Chapel!

The Sistine Chapel isn’t only about Michelangelo. It’s a collection of art from the minds and hands of other great Italian painters. The history of the Sistine Chapel can be traced back in the 1400s when the pope at that time, Sixtus IV della Rovere, opted to have Capella Mana renovated. The results are the different paintings and false drapes that do not only mean beauty but story as well. Among the most popular painters who labored include Pietro Perugino, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Sandro Boticelli, and Pier Matteo d'Amelia, who painted the skies full of stars. It was in August 15, 1483, when Michelangelo Buonarroti took the responsibility of altering some of the designs of the Sistine Chapel, per the initiative of Julius II della Rovere, Sixtus IV’s nephew.

The Ceiling

The greatest art piece of the Sistine Chapel would probably be its ceiling. However, if not for the cracks that could have been effects of the excavation, we will not be able to appreciate the most magnificent work of Michelangelo. The tale of the ceiling is quite enthralling. It seems like God planted desire in Michelangelo’s heart. It should have just been a mere visual representation of the 12 Apostles. Feeling dissatisfied, though, Michelangelo, with the full permission of Julius II, decided to change everything. If you will take a good look on the different depictions on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, you’ll know that it is actually composed of the 9 central stories that make up the Genesis, such as the Fall of Man, the story of Noah, and the Story of Creation. The painting usually starts at the entrance wall of the chapel.

The Last Judgment

After the Sack of Rome and before the start of the Council of Trent, Michelangelo worked on the Last Judgment, a huge mural occupying the entire wall at the back of the Sistine Chapel altar. It was a representation of the coming of Christ and the day of damnation. It showed the various nude souls descending into hell or ascending into heaven after they have faced clear judgment from Christ.

Looking at the Last Judgment, you will probably not feel awed of the entire backdrop but of the entire message it hopes to convey. It displayed the great reverence of the people to the ultimate power of God. The painting had been controversial, however, after Cardinal Carafa thought that it was very immoral and obscene, considering that the images were deliberately showing their genitals. He ordered the removal of the fresco, which could have been pushed through if not for the insistence and persistence of Michelangelo. To tame down its effect on the onlookers, the genital as were then later “covered” by Daniele da Volterra.

Touring the Chapel

There are many Italian tours that include visitation to the Sistine Chapel. You can even simply choose to tour the Vatican Museums, and definitely, you will land yourself inside the chapel. Normally, the tourists will arrive inside the chapel passing through the back portion of the altar. Then, they will observe the chapel until they can reach the entrance of the church. This will give them better opportunities to study and marvel at the different masterpieces surrounding and within the chapel. Nevertheless, before you can enter the chapel, you need to have tickets or entrance passes, which you can possibly get at the gates.

Whiling Away at the Gorgeous Vatican Gardens

There’s one garden that will remind you that there will always be a special place you can run to whenever you feel troubled, but it doesn’t take the fact that its overall design is more than enough to make you feel so blessed for the rest of your life. Such can be the simple message you will get once you get into the Vatican Gardens.

A tour to the Vatican Gardens can take up to 3 hours. By now, you probably have a good idea of just how vast and big it is. In fact, it covers 1/3 of the entire land area of the Vatican City, the smallest country in the entire world. Walking through the various types of foliages means going back on the history that span for more than 2 centuries.

A Look-back on the Gardens

The history of the Vatican Gardens can be traced back on the times when it was then a large orchard and vineyard that’s part of the Apostolic Palace. It used to be surrounded by walls until it was torn down, and two courtyards emerged. They were called the Pine Cone, or Pigna, and the Belvedere. There are two reasons why the gardens were created. First, Nicholas V wanted to have a venue for their papal court ceremonies. He also liked something that would give him some form of entertainment.

Design of the Gardens is the same text of Vatican Gardens

Today, anybody can visit the Vatican Gardens, provided that they choose to take a private guided tour. Normally, it will be opened at 11:00 a.m., every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between March and October. For the remaining months, it will be accessible every Saturday, on 11:00 a.m.

The Vatican Gardens is like going through another kind of world—a beautiful one—as expressed by the pair of small arches that can be located at the back area of the First Martyrs Courtyard. There’s a 2-mile Renaissance Wall, which is now being occupied by the oval piazza and St. Peter’s Basilica. You can also find the world-famous Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums, and other offices totaling almost 10,000 rooms.

The Different Species Found in the Gardens

Plants are not all Italian. As a matter of fact, it’s like taking a stroll into the different natural flora of the world, as almost every country is well-represented in the Vatican Gardens. You will be able to observe North America’s maples, evergreen magnolia, and plane trees; Lebanon’s cedars; Japan’s sago palms; and Tasmania’s eucalyptus, to name a few. Over the years, churchmen and missionaries contributed their own finds in the garden. Fortunately, they have found a great home in the Roman soil.

One of the highlights of the tour will be reaching the slope found at the eastern portion of the Vatican Hill, which was then considered to be infested with wild snakes by the ancient Romans. However, it’s also the perfect venue for the Etruscans to practice their prophecies. The hill today is far from the untamed jungle you may have in mind. It’s now covered with well-tended beds, lawns, and shrubs. There are around 30 gardeners who take care of the garden full time, so you know that you’re not going to be disappointed once you decide to visit.

There are simply some places on Earth that will make you feel that life can still be rosy and a walk in the park. Just think of the Vatican Gardens, and you’ll know what this means.

The Aleenta is a small and intimate hotel with a variety of accommodation, from the Pool Suites which means a romantic bungalow by the sea with your own plunge pool, ideal for a romantic getaway or a honeymoon. There is the beachfront splendour of the Beach House, ideal for a party of four, or the Ocean Suites with indoor and outdoor living space. For families there is the Frangipani Wing with a large inviting pool by the sea, and the beach is but a few steps away, so ideal as a family vacation resort. The New Frangipani Wing has its own infinity pool, with a poolside bar serving snacks day and night

The Aleenta Resort and Spa is a simple and unfussy place which whilst laid back well deserves its burgeoning reputation as one of Thailand's leading luxury resorts. It is the small details which matter.

The wireless broadband connection throughout. The Aleenta Spa offering the full range of treatments to pamper and unwind you, and there is even an area set aside for Yoga, complete with instruction.

Thai and Fusion Cuisine are served in the restaurant which helps you to eat healthily with the right healthy lifestyle choices. Having said that, the breakfasts are just out of this world!!

There is a Sandwich Bar for all day snacks and a lounge and open air bar overlooking the sea.

To this you can add inevitably excellent room service, a library, a CD library, a Boutique, a Wedding Centre on the beach, a Business Centre, and extremely efficient Concierge service and security.

Whilst you might expect to find similar facilities at most luxury exclusive resorts, but some of the things that sets the Aleena Resort and Spa apart from others is the situation. Pran Buri has not yet been spoiled as have other areas of Thailand, so what you have to enjoy is a deserted beach, a no television policy, organic food with the vegetables from the hotel's own garden.

The staff of the Aleena resort just smile all the time, and nothing is too much trouble.

Apart from the deserted beach Pranburi is very peaceful which will suit some but not others. If nightlife is a necessary part of your vacation, then this probably isn't the place for you, but if you want to eat out then there are a couple of good restaurant shacks a ride away.

An important point is that the Aleenta resort and Spa is right on the beach, whereas the resorts in northern Pranburi have a small road in between, but you'll not find that fact widely available on their websites.

Go to Pranburi soon before it becomes spoilt, and you must stay at the Aleenta Resort and Spa, one of Thailand's best exclusive luxury resorts.

The Market is located in one of Budapest’s most beautiful squares, and each year its organizers aim to stage a high quality event that is also a fitting way to prepare for Christmas. Thus the goods on sale include tasteful hand-made gifts and folk-inspired traditional arts and crafts: here there is no room for the garish or the mass-produced. It is thanks to this careful attention to the quality of the wares, along with the broadening over the years of the scope of the other attractions and entertainment on offer, that has ensured the event has gained the outstanding international reputation it has.

There will be 150 great stage shows , including puppet theatre, folk music and folk dancing. Visitors of all ages will be given a free hand in the heated marquee to make their own seasonal decorations. During the time the fair lasts, a Nativity scene made by the folk wood carver will be observable, inside it the statues showing the Sacred Family, and at the same time, for this year we also plan the exhibition of Betlehem cribs ade by students of primary school of arts.

Exploring Hong Kong, Amazing Varieties of Attractions

Exploring Hong Kong, Amazing Varieties of Attractions

Hong Kong, officially known as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is a part of the Guangdong Province, and is one of the China's two special administrative regions, another being Macau.

In other words, Hong Kong is a thriving metropolis where modern western lifestyle is combined with ancient as well as traditional Chinese culture. Until the 19th century, Hong Kong was just a sleepy fishing village, which later saw tremendous changes when it became a colony and was under the British till it was handed over to China in 1997.

Occupying an area of about 1099 square kilometers and located on the south east coast of China, Hong Kong is now regarded as a gateway to the country, and serves as a center of international transportation, commerce, and communication. Hong Kong is made up of four sections such as Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the Outlying Islands, and the New Territories.

When comes to attractions and things to do, Hong Kong provides endless options, which at the same are also unique. For instance, the Victoria Harbor that separates the glass towers of the island and the bustling streets of Kowloon Peninsula is one of the most magnificent waterways of the world. Perhaps the greatest of all the attractions in the city would be Victoria Peak, otherwise known as the Peak. Until the opening of the Peak Tram in 1880, the only way to reach the Peak was via walking or by taking a potholed ride in a sedan chair.

An interesting thing is that the Peak Tram is still in operational and taking a ride in it is a great way to enjoy the breathtaking vistas of Hong Kong Island as well as the Kowloon Peninsula. Attractions in the Peak also include the Peak Tower, which is a shopping center with a remarkable terrace, from where you can enjoy the magnificent views of whole of the island.

Another not to miss attraction in Hong Kong is Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront, an awesome promenade, a stroll along which would be a great way to savor the incredible beauty of the place. Must-visit attractions in the city also include Temple of Ten Thousand Buddha, where to reach you will have to climb about 400 steps; Tian Tan Buddha, which is the largest statute of seated Buddha in the world; Hong Kong Heritage Museum, which has on display an amazing selection of antique Chinese artifacts; and Sam Tung Uk Museum, which is in the center of Tsuen Wan in the New Territories.

A visit to Hong Kong would not be complete without taking a tour to destinations such as Disneyland and Ocean Park, whose facilities are an eclectic mix of entertainment and education; Repulse Bay, which is much famed for its white sandy beaches and sub-tropical backdrop; and Golden Bauhinia Square, which marks the most prominent occasion in the history of China, ie, the return of Hong Kong by the British and the establishment of the city as the Special Administrative Region on 30 June 1997.

The city has something for everyone. For instance, for culinary enthusiasts, the city boasts of a mind blowing array of restaurants serving delicacies like chicken lo mein, dim sum, Tong Cho oysters, tofu, and Peking duck.

Further, Hong Kong is a haven for shopping, with shops and stalls in such destinations as Stanley Village Market, from where a variety of branded items can be shopped at bargain prices. Likewise, if you are flower lover, then head to flower market, where a unique selection of flowers and plants can be seen. Further, a visit to the Bird Market would be an excellent option for bird lovers. Also, while your stay at Hong Kong, take a tour to the fish market in the city, which boasts of aquariums consisting of exotic fish varieties. Above all, exciting as well as lively is the nightlife of the city, which is primarily concentrated around the twin districts of Wan Chai and Lan Kwai Fong.

With these amazing varieties of attractions, it is not a wonder why tourists from across the world flock to this wonderful destination. Hence, the city has accommodation choices to cater to every type of travelers. If you are well healed, then you can go for such accommodation options that are attached with high facilities and comforts. Even these hotels provide superb facilities in the form of excellent fitness rooms and award winning spa treatments. There are also some hotels providing services of expert nutritionist which helps to develop healthy as well as sumptuous menus for guests.

Car Hire - a Guide to Driving in Italy

Car Hire - a Guide to Driving in Italy

Driving is undoubtedly, one of the most exciting ways to truly explore Italy. If however, you plan to stick to the bigger towns and cities and have no intention of venturing out into the countryside then its probably best avoided.

There are a number of reasons for this, the main ones being the difficulty in both parking and getting around.

On the whole driving in Italy requires a certain amount of bravery and a good deal of patience, with speed and small margins for error seemingly being the essence of Italian drivers.

Even though driving regulations and rules are governed by the same EU laws as in the UK, the degree to which such laws are enforced varies greatly.

Traffic lights are generally respected, within Naples though, stopping at a red light becomes more of an option than a given.

Finding a parking space in most of the cities can be very difficult; this is especially true in Venice. Instead, parking in a supervised car park outside of cities is generally a better idea.

As Italy has an extensive public transport network, connecting most of its bigger towns and cities, it is advised to make use of this in favour of driving around them yourself.

As mentioned above, if however, you plan on spending a lot of time in the country, or have accommodation outside a city, then renting a car and making your own way round is going to be the favoured option.

This is because Italy’s public transport does not stretch out into the country, making many of the smaller village’s inaccessible without your own car.

When out and about on Italian roads one of the main things to watch out for is drivers overtaking. Those more confident on the road tend to get very close behind cars and then shoot out. With most roads being bendy with only one lane per direction, this can prove quite dangerous.

The trick is to just remain calm and concentrate fully on the road at all times. It’s best to have one person navigating and one driving.

Wine Country Tours: The Importance Of Examining All Of Your Options

Wine Country Tours: The Importance Of Examining All Of Your Options

Are you in the process of planning a trip to wine country? If you are, you will want to take a wine country tour or even a number of them. Wine tasting and wine tours are, perhaps, the two activities most commonly associated with trips to wine country.

When looking to take a wine country tour, it is first important that you examine all of your options. This is important, as you, literally, have so many to choose from. Starting with location, Northern California, the Finger Lakes area of New York State, and parts of Washington State are known for their great wine production. This results in multiple areas in the United States being known as wine country, especially by locals. With that said, Northern California is the area most commonly talked about on both national and international levels.

Another one of the many reasons why you are encouraged to examine all of your options, when looking to take a wine country tour, is because wine tours come in a number of different formats. For tourists who are unfamiliar with the area, guided wine country tours are a popular option. Many guided wine tour companies have participants meet at a public location, where everyone is then boarded on to a bus or a traveling van. The only downside to guided wine tours is that they often limited on the number of available spots they have. Also, many tend to visit only a specific number of wineries and those wineries are often predetermined ahead of time without input from tourists, like you.

In keeping with wine country tour options, you also have the ability to take an independent tour. This is where you will, essentially, be transporting yourself to wineries and vineyards in the area. Independent wine tours are ideal for those who do not want to be rushed, those who have a way to get around, like with a car rental, as well as those who would like to visit specific wineries and vineyards that may not be visited by guided tours. Many tourists like taking their own independent wine tours, as they have much more freedom to do, see, and taste what they want.

Speaking of the wineries and vineyards that you can visit, you have an unlimited number of options. That is just another one of the many reasons why you are encouraged to examine all of your options before making any official arrangements concerning wine country tours. For example, did you know that in California's wine country, you have around four hundred locations to choose from? You do. If you would like to take a guided wine tour, examine some of the vineyards and wineries that will be examined. Are they ones that you would like to visit? If you are interested in independently taking your own wine tour, be sure to examine as many options as you possibly can.

Cost is another one of the many reasons why you should take the time to examine all of your options, when looking to take a wine country tour. Cost is and should be important with both independent and guided wine country tours. Does the cost of a guided wine tour include wine tasting? If not, make sure that the rate you are charged is at least semi affordable. For independent tours, examine the rates that each vineyard or winery charges. Also, examine their method of collecting money. Are you just charged for wine tasting or are you also charged an admission fee?

Perhaps, the greatest reason why you are urged to take the time to examine all of your options, when looking to plan a wine country tour is because of satisfaction. By examining all of your options, you are more likely to choose guided wine tours or wineries to visit independently that you are actually interested in attending. By handpicking your vacation activities, you are more likely to enjoy yourself.

Traveling By RV: Supplies You Should Stock Up On

Traveling By RV: Supplies You Should Stock Up On

Are you in the process of planning a trip, namely one in which you will be traveling by RV? If so, have you taken the time to create a checklist for yourself? If not, you will want to consider doing so. A checklist can help to ensure that you have all needed supplies for your next RV trip.

When creating an RV trip checklist for yourself, your list will typically depend on your own personal wants and needs. That is why you are urged against relying on checklists that you can print off the internet. Yes, they can serve as great starting points or guides, but be sure to personalize your list so that it includes what you and your family want or need to bring. To get you started in doing so, a few supplies that you should definitely stock up on for your next RV trip are outlined below.

Generally, where food and drinks are concerned, there is no harm in overstocking. Although it is a thought that you would like to avoid, it is important to take emergencies, like being stranded in your motor home, into consideration. As for drinks, it is important to always have lots of bottled water on hand. Water is great to have in the event of an emergency. Other drinks on your checklist should depend on the personal preferences of you and your traveling party, such as soda, milk, and juice.

As for food, it is always a good idea to have a some meats and other full meals available for your next RV trip, but don't forget the snacks. In fact, it is a wise idea to stock up on non-perishable foods, such as canned foods. These are items that can be consumed without electricity, in the event of an emergency. If your RV trip involves spending a considerable amount of time on the road, as opposed to being stationed in an RV campground or park, foods that are convenient to prepare and eat are advised.

Speaking of emergencies, it is important to stock up on first aid supplies for your upcoming RV trip. Whether you will be traveling on the road or if you will be parked in an RV campground, it is important to remember that the risk of injury increases when away from home. That is why your motor home should be fully stocked with first aid supplies, such as bandages. First aid kits are a great idea, but make sure that you purchase one that is large in size. It is important to have enough first aid supplies, such as bandages, to go around for your whole traveling party just in case.

Toiletries are another type of item that you will want to stock up on, when traveling by RV, especially for long distance trips. It is important to have the necessities that will keep you clean and healthy. These items should include towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and so forth. One of the quickest ways to ruin an otherwise perfect RV trip is to be unprepared in terms of your hygiene.

Of course, clothing is an important component of preparing for an RV trip. With that being said, you will want to ensure that you stock up on clothing and other related items that can assist you in the event of bad weather. These items should include umbrellas, raincoats, mud boots, and winter jackets. As a reminder, there is no harm in preparing for the worst, especially when traveling by RV.

As highlighted above, food, drinks, first aid supplies, toiletries, and clothing are just a few of the many items that you will want to pack for an RV trip. With that being said, there items are referred to as essentials by many motor home travelers. As a reminder, create a checklist for yourself, preferably well in advance of your trip. A checklist will help to ensure that you are fully prepared, which can also help to improve the overall satisfaction of your travels.

Getting From A-b

Getting From A-b

One of the perks of my job is experiencing the many ways to travel from place to place around the world.

I have ridden a camel at speed through the desert, which once I had learned to be at one with the beast was a wonderful experience. I believe that when visiting far off places then you should try things that maybe you would not do at home knowing that the people that observe you making a fool of yourself will never see you again.

I have sailed the Nile on a felluca, one of the basic boats of the country which took me on a sunset trip giving me the chance to absorb the stunning countryside and the beautiful natural plants it has to offer.

Then at the opposite end of the scale I have experienced an evening meal on a luxury cruise ship under the stunning starry night sky in Thailand. I must admit that the choice of music amused both myself and a Russian couple that sat on the table beside me. The guy looked towards me with eyebrows raised and said “Titanic?”

I have also travelled on overnight trains in various countries which enabled me to experience sharing sleeping arrangements with complete strangers or how uncomfortable sitting in an ordinary cabin can be for the whole night. I must add that seeing a glorious sunrise from the train window in the early hours when everyone else was asleep was rather special in this foreign country.

The various taxi cabs across the world have been amazing experiences in themselves. In America most of the drivers seem eager to share their stories or lives in intimate exchanges, such as one cab driver in New York that could not wait to share his solution to troublesome passengers. In an animated way he began to quite realistically yell and reach beneath his seat, I was certain that he was going to pull out a gun and I was genuinely scared. In fact he pulled out a crow bar and began waving it about, needless to say I was very eager to get out of his cab.

In India the Cab drivers may not be as animated but it was here that I learned very quickly how different the rules of the road were. When my driver started honking on his horn soon into the journey, I was sure that we were in for trouble. However it turned out that this was normal in India and it seemed as if it was every man, dog, camel or pedestrian for himself!

All of my travelling experiences are unique in their own way and I could not possible pick a favourite and it is so with the enormous 4x4 that I explored the Icelandic countryside in. I experienced things in that vehicle that I would never have imagined that I would have consciously chosen to do under normal circumstances.

In the air I have been lucky enough to fly with the best and the worst. It would certainly not happen nowadays but roughly 10 years ago I had the good fortune to sit in the cockpit of a plane when it landed, an experience I feel very fortunate to have had considering how much things have changed of late.

All of my experiences have been a rush for one reason or another, whether it be not knowing if the plane that I am in is going to make it or not or whether my taxi driver is sane enough to get me to my destination!

One thing is for sure ABC Chauffeurs offers some of the best chauffeur services in London plus airport transfers and hotel pick up and drop offs. So if you want to get from A-B safely then you know who to call.

Para Gliding in Kerala

Para Gliding in Kerala

A paraglider is the ultimate portable aircraft, entirely packing up into a rucksack when not in use! Originally based upon square ram-air parachuting canopies, modern paragliders have ample performance for soaring in the gentle lifting air on windward slopes, and in suitable conditions, thermal lift makes it possible to fly substantial distances across the country.

Paragliders have no rigid structure and are kept in shape by the internal pressure of air, with the pilot suspended by lines beneath. The pilot is clipped into a harness and oriented in a sitting position for maximum comfort. After laying out the wing and lines, launching is simply a matter of moving down the slope a few steps to tension the lines and allow the wind to inflate the wing and raise it above you. A short run forward to pick up airspeed and you're airborne!

The paraglider pilot launches by 'inflating' the paraglider canopy over his head and then running down the slope of the hill, into the prevailing breeze, until the canopy lifts him away from the surface of the earth. Also like hang gliding, paragliding is unpowered flight, with none of the complications that otherwise arise from the use of an engine.

In the smooth, calm air of early morning or evening, a paraglider pilot can, with a few easy steps, launch himself from any convenient hillside or mountaintop and glide smoothly and silently to a gentle landing hundreds or even thousands of feet below. And even if this were the only experience offered by the sport of paragliding, it would well be worth it for those of us who have dreamed throughout our lifetime of imitating the simple, unencumbered flight of the birds.

But paragliding offers more or in the more active air of midday, a paraglider pilot with more advanced skills and experience can launch into soaring conditions, where rising parcels of sun heated air can carry paraglider and pilot aloft, sometimes thousands of feet above the point of launch, allowing the pilots to fly freely for several hours.

One of the greatest appeals of paragliding is the elegant simplicity of the sport; from the equipment required to the techniques involved. The paraglider wing itself is a mere 15 pounds of nylon or dacron cloth, fabricated into a series of ram air inflatable cells, to which is sewn an array of thin supporting lines which attach to the pilot's harness. The entire system will fit in a corner of the trunk of your car, or onto a backpack that you can take with you on a hike.

Paragliding in Kerala

At Vagamon which is also known as the 'Scotland of Asia', with its rolling grass lands and with a history of the bygone British era with cool climate during most parts of the year conducts a paragliding festival. There are many tourist destinations in Kerala that provides paragliding training. Paragliding in India is highly popular at the tourist locations of Kerala. Kerala adventure paragliding is popular.

Reaching these places is very easy as all the modes of transport are easily available. The air, rail, and road transportation is well developed as many people from all over come for paragliding. Due to assume and easy travelling, more and more people have started paragliding at these popular regions in Kerala.

Ten Must-see Places In Yemen

Ten Must-see Places In Yemen

Yemen is a country located in the Arabian Peninsula. It is a country rich in history and culture as well as wonderful places to visit. Although it is highly discouraged to visit the country right now because of civil unrest and terrorist attacks, it is still worth knowing the ten must-see places in Yemen.

1.) The Rock Art of Sa'da

You can see here ancient drawings and texts that were written by nomadic tribes. They date back to about 4,500 years ago. The drawings you will see in the canyon walls are animals that were predominant during that period (rams, snakes, cattle, people, etc.) as well as plants.

2.) Socotra Island

This is an island that has a very diverse flora and fauna that can only be found in the island. Only here will you see a centipede that eats flesh as well as a myriad of reptiles and birds. There are also the Dragon's Blood trees, which is always a sight to behold.

3.) The Incense Road

In Socotra also, you can follow the ancient Incense Road. You will get to see many cities, towns and villages along the way if you are up for the 62-day journey. The Incense Road is legendary because it was calculated that more than 3,000 tons of incense was transported through this way during the ancient times.

4.) Wadi Dhahr

This is a valley where vegetables and fruits are bountiful. You can also see here the Imam Yahya's palace, which was erected during the 1930s on top of a high rock. This high rock is called the Rock Palace or the Dar Al Hajar.

China Travel Tips - Olympics Update And New Beijing & Shanghai

China Travel Tips - Olympics Update And New Beijing & Shanghai

China is set to register the world's largest online population in 2008, according to a recent survey by the China Internet Network Information Center. With 73 million new net users in 2007, taking the total pool to 210 million, China is only 5 million Internet users behind the US, which leads the world in terms of connectivity. And there's room for growth, as China's current Internet penetration ratio of 16 percent is well below the world average of 19.1 percent.

China News

Golden Down - Previously one of China's "Golden Week" national public holiday periods, the May Day break is no more. New regulations have reduced the holiday from three days to one day, while four traditional Chinese festivals - Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year's Eve - have become one-day national holidays. In addition, the fairer sex are now also permitted a half-day public holiday on International Women's Day (March 8), children younger than 14 can take a break on Children's Day (June 1), and active-duty soldiers get a half-day off on August 1. Tough luck if you're a male office worker over the age of 14.

A Bicycle Built For Two - The Beijing government is pedaling pretty fast to encourage locals to forget the car and get back on a bike. In recent months, a number of new bike hire ventures have started appearing all over town. Located in the vicinity of subway stations and shopping precincts, the bike stations allow patrons to pay a deposit, pick up a bike, and drop it off at one of dozens of other bike stations when done.

Tourism Trillions

For the first time ever, China's tourism revenue broke the one trillion mark in 2007, reaching RMB1.09 trillion (US$137.92 billion), according to the China National Tourism Administration. The number of inbound travelers topped 132 million, up 5.5 percent on 2006 figures, and over 54 million people stayed overnight, up 9.6 percent. The influx created an estimated 500,000 job opportunities in the tourism sector.

Olympic Update

Beijing's National Aquatics Centre, a.k.a. the Water Cube, was officially unveiled on January 28 and an Olympic test event in the facility will be staged on February 5. Taking four years to build, the US$130 million building is comprised of a series of blue membranes, creating a distinctive "double bubble" appearance. Come August 2008, over 42 gold medals will be given away inside the Centre, which houses 6,000 permanent and 11,000 temporary seats for spectators.

The Beijing Capital Airport Express Line - the express rail line connecting Beijing with its airport - will begin test runs on April 1 and is due to be fully operational by July 1. Extending from the central transportation hub of Dongzhimen to Beijing Capital Airport, stopping at Sanyuanqiao Station, Airport Terminal T3 Station, and Terminal T2 Station, the 28.1-kilometer (17.4-mile) line will soar above the traffic, whipping passengers to the airport in a speedy 17 minutes. Needless to say, taxi drivers are not happy that their most lucrative route may be compromised.

The Beijing Olympic Village - apartments for 205 athlete delegations - is preparing for a July opening. Located less than three kilometers (1.86 miles) from the Bird's Nest, the village is also equipped with indoor fitness and training centers, a jogging path, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, recreational facilities such as Internet cafes, games and DVD rooms, worship and meditation rooms, and a comprehensive outpatient clinic providing emergency and doping detection services.

Protecting Its Young - The Forbidden City and Great Wall are, like, sooo yesterday. The Beijing Municipal Government recently announced that it's now focusing on the protection of modern architectural monoliths previously overlooked in favor of ancient historical structures. A total of 188 buildings built within the past 160 years are to be given government protection, including the 50-year-old Great Hall of the People, schools built by missionaries in the 19th century; and the city's first water works.

New Restaurant And Bars In China

A Gourmet Revolution - A chic new warehouse space - 1949 - The Hidden City - will open this Spring in Beijing. The 6,000-square-meter (64,590-square-feet) space features Gallery 49, showcasing modern art, as well as seven restaurants and bars. Located in a glass house, Sugar Bar is dedicated to coffee and chocolate sweet things; Duck de Chine is an innovative duck restaurant with an exclusive Bollinger Champagne Bar; 1/5taverna has digs in a rustic warehouse and features a made-to-share menu and live mariachi music; Noodle Bar dishes up fresh noodles in a contemporary setting; 1/5 is a chill-out lounge, situated in a loft space; for the summer months, outdoor Well Bar serves ice cold beer around an abandoned well; and Club 49 is a private club devoted to good food, good wine, and good art.

Global Sounds - A nightclub partnership between Hong Kong's Love Da Records and local DJs, Globe Music Bank is the newest mega-club to grace the nightlife scene in Guangzhou. Spread over four different rooms, the club debuted in January with sounds from legendary DJ Meat Katie, alongside wild pyrotechnic displays and bar antics that put Tom Cruise to shame.

In Da House - Throwing open its doors in Shanghai just before Christmas, the sleek, sexy Hamilton House is located in a 1930s art deco building, featuring high ceilings, quirky loveseats and art deco knickknacks above the bar. Within spitting distance of the Bund, the restaurant dishes up modern international cuisine, and some of the best desserts around.

Not A Silly Sausage - The cold weather may be over for now, but the comfort food has just begun. A newcomer in 2008, the German Sausage Corner in Suzhou sells (you guessed it) German sausages, beer and not too much else. The succulent Bratwurst and Currywurst platters are a treat with a freshly brewed beer in the cozy restaurant, tucked down Bar Street.

For Sure Faurs Chou - The newest gallery on Beijing's Dashanzi 798 Art District block, Faurschou, is the brainchild of notable Danish collectors Luise and Jens Faurschou, who opened their acclaimed Galleri Faurschou in Copenhagen in 1986. Their 1,000-square-meter (10,765-square-feet) space in Beijing is dedicated to showcasing the best in modern international art to the Chinese community, with an opening exhibition from renowned American artist Robert Rauschenberg and planned shows from the likes of Michael Kvium, Andy Warhol and even Pablo Picasso.

Upcoming China Events

It Really Is a Great Wall - To be run on May 17 this year, the Great Wall Marathon is regarded as one of the most extraordinary races in the world. Held on a spectacular section in Tianjin of China's most famous landmark, the marathon is for the truly hardy. It includes 3,700 steps, many of which are irregularly shaped or spaced; exhausting ascents; slippery stones; and unfinished paths.

Ghostly - Also known as Tomb Sweeping or Ghost Festival, Qingming is a traditional Chinese holiday marked to remember and honor ancestors by visiting their graves with family, offering food, wine, tea, chopsticks and incense. Falling on April 4 in 2008, the festival is also considered a good time to make a fresh start - it's a popular time for first dates, and sees fallen-out friends and relatives mend bridges.

Midi Me - From humble roots, the Midi Music Festival has grown the biggest outdoor music festival in China, held over four days in Beijing every May (May 1 to 4, 2008). The festival attracts an eclectic mix of local and international bands - from folk, rock, punk and metal to electronica and even a spot of rap - and a crowd just as diverse. This year will see one stage sponsored by Sutasi, which has promised to up the international cred of the festival and bring out a couple of big name bands.

Packing Tips For A Hassle-Free Family Day Trip

Packing Tips For A Hassle-Free Family Day Trip

If you're planning a day trip with your family, you're liable to bring either too much or too little stuff. No one wants to feel like they're reenacting the Western Expansion complete with a wagon train, but it's also incredibly frustrating to find yourself an hour or two along a trail without a diaper for the baby.

To help you avoid either of these extremes, here are some basic principles you should consider when you pack for a family day out.

- Clothing

Dress for the weather, but expect the unexpected. A sweatshirt is always useful if there's a chance the temperature may drop, and a hat is good protection from the sun. Most importantly, everybody needs a change of clothing, grown-ups included. Yes, it's probably going to be one of the kids that spills grape soda all over themselves, falls in a stream, or gets a bloody nose. However, the next stop on their trail of destruction is likely to be mom or dad and you may find yourself sharing in the grime, gore and goop.

- Food and drink

Dehydration is very unpleasant, so be sure to take sufficient water. If you'll be on a trail, away from a source of clean water, then you should be carrying a liter and a half of water per person.

If you're planning to eat out as part of the day's fun, then of course there's less need to take food with you. But it's still a good idea to carry some energy-filled snacks such as nuts, pretzels, fruit, etc. That way you can save your money for a couple of good meals, rather than constantly spending on spur of the moment snacks and treats.

- Clean-up, first aid, and baby supplies

If you're still in the diaper stage with one of your kids, over-pack on diapers and be sure to split them up between more than one backpack just in case you lose a bag, or get separated. Baby wipes, hand sanitizer, plastic bags and a couple of garbage bags will all allow you to keep things clean in any situation ... soiled or soaked clothes can be sealed up in a trash bag, while the debris of diaper changing can be carried easily to the closest trash can.

A small first-aid kit is a sensible addition to your backpack. Don't feel you have to be ready for every medical emergency, but some band-aids, antibiotic ointment, sunscreen and junior pain killers are useful to have.

- Toys and books

Whether in the car, at a restaurant waiting to be served, or taking a rest after a picnic lunch, you and your kids will be much happier with something to do. Even the most saint-like parent gets tired of the license-plate game eventually so be sure that everyone has a book, a favorite toy or game, or some crayons and a coloring book to fill some down-time.

Planning ahead and packing carefully will make your day trip less stressful, and more fun.

Hotels Can Be Expensive - Tips For Finding The Best Deals

Hotels Can Be Expensive - Tips For Finding The Best Deals

When it comes to choosing a hotel for your vacation, it often becomes an issue of low cost and convenient location. More often than not, particularly when traveling to major tourist areas with popular attractions, the closer the lodging is to the destination or attraction, the more expensive it will be. That is why the best way to save money on lodging is to stay in an outlying area.

Unfortunately, this might mean that you will spend more time driving to your destinations, which inevitably means more money spent on gasoline. It is important to asses all of the factors in order to make sure that staying in more distant hotel will really cost you less money.

There are several ways to save money on lodging without compromising the quality of your accommodations. For example, paying for a membership in AAA or a similar auto club also provides you with discounts on hotel rooms, as does being a member of the military or being a senior citizen. When booking a hotel room, make sure you ask about discounts that may be available.

Another tip for finding lower cost lodging is to try shopping early for your hotel room. Often, hotels will reserve a block of lower-priced rooms, available on a first come, first serve basis. Getting the best lodging deal is often based on timing and planning ahead.

Saving money on a hotel room means next to nothing if the place is a pigsty, or unsafe. Shopping for a budget hotel does not mean you have to settle for a hotel that is dirty, poorly run or in a dangerous area.

Fortunately, the Internet makes it so easy to find great deals on quality budget hotels. The Internet cuts the time it takes to research lodging down to a fraction of what it used to take. Most hotels, even budget properties, have websites and feature photos of the property, rooms, and the surrounding area. It has never been easier to research the lodging that you are considering, especially if you have never stayed there before.

Do not forget to research the area in which the hotel is located also. Be sure to check out things like restaurants and attractions within walking distance of the hotel. Amenities, especially on vacation, are important.

On the Internet there are a number of review sites available where those who have stayed in various hotels can share their experiences and their opinions of the hotels. These review sites are invaluable for travelers, especially if you are going to a place for the first time.

In addition, the Internet hosts a number of travel web sites where travelers and tourists can locate and compare lodging based on their particular need, such as for their individual dates of stay and destinations. These web sites provide several ways to search, including distance from an attraction, price, and star level. The only thing that you need to bear in mind when using such a web site is that comparison web sites only showcase properties that pay a fee, so using a particular site does not necessarily ensure the best price for your trip. For locating the best deals online, it is best to refer to several web sites in order to get a real idea of the lowest prices available.
